Accessibility – Closed Captioning YouTube Videos
This article provides Instructors with quick tips and suggestions with respect to closed captioning when using YouTube videos.
When showing YouTube videos in class, make sure to turn on closed captions to make the materials more accessible to people with disabilities and learners with English as an additional language. You can do this by selecting the “CC” icon in the YouTube video player.
Note: If the video doesn’t have closed captions you should consider reaching out to the author so they can have the video captioned or find another video that has captions. If you created the video, YouTube has a very efficient closed captioning engine that can be used to caption your videos quickly.
