Clear Course Content
In this article we show instructors how to delete everything in their course. This is useful if the wrong course was copied over, or if they’d like to start from scratch.
Ensure you delete course materials from the following 7 areas before trying to copy another course into your Brightspace shell:
Table of Contents
Announcements
Quizzes
Assignments
Discussions, Forums, and Topics
Rubrics
Grades
Calendar
Table of Contents
1. Navigate to the Content section of your Brightspace course.
2. Click on Table of Contents.
3. Click on the chevron next to the Table of Contents page title and select Delete All Modules.
4. Choose Permanently delete all modules, topics, and all associated files and activities from the course.
Announcements
1. Navigate to the Course Home section of you Brightspace course.
2. Click on the chevron next to the Announcements title and select Go to Announcements Tool.
. Click on the checkbox at the top of the list of announcements to select all the announcements and click Delete
Quizzes
1. Go to Activities > Quizzes
2. Click on the checkbox at the top of the list of quizzes to select all the quizzes in your course.
3. Click More Actions > Delete.
Assignments
1. Go to Activities > Assignments
2. Click on the checkbox at the top of the list of assignments to select all the assignments in your course.
3. Click More Actions > Delete.
Discussions, Forums, and Topics
1. Go to Activities > Discussion
2. Click on More Actions > Delete.
3. Click on Select All at the top of the list of discussions to select all discussion forums and topics and
4. Click Delete to delete the selected items.
Rubrics
1. Go to Activities > Rubrics
2. Click on the checkbox at the top of the list of rubrics to select all the rubrics in your course.
3. Click on the trash can icon to delete the rubrics.
Grades
1. Go to Grades
2. Select Manage Grades
3. Click on More Actions > Delete
4. Click on the checkbox at the top of the list of grade items
5. Click Delete to delete all selected items.
Note:
-
- Grade items that have an
existing association
- to assignments, quizzes, or discussions cannot be deleted. Be sure to delete all your assessments or their associations to the grade item before deleting your grade items to ensure all the items get deleted.
Calendar
1. Go to the Calendar on the Navbar.
2. Click on the name of the course you’re deleting content from.
3. Click on the chevron of the event you want to delete and choose Delete.
4. Repeat this for every event in your calendar.
Note:
- After step 2, you may click on Settings on the top right (under your name) and uncheck the “Confirm Delete” checkbox to delete events without Brightspace asking for confirmation. Only do this if you’re sure you are deleting the correct events!
