DLE Weekly Update: Removal of Virtual Classroom link from the Tools menu
Posted on Friday, May 7th, 2020
The link to the Virtual Classroom is being removed from the Tools menu, in your course navbar. The reason why this has been decided is to avoid confusion with the College’s recommended video conferencing tool, the Zoom Classroom. Please note that, once the link will be removed, you will still be able to access the Virtual Classroom via the Existing Activities button, under Content.
The Virtual Classroom is a free third party tool that was included with Brightspace when the LMS was first implemented. You may have been using it prior to the integration of Zoom Classroom, or as an alternative to Zoom, but there have been very few support cases relating to this tool since Zoom was integrated with Brightspace.
For those of you who still need to access the Virtual Classroom tool, either for use with students or to access old recordings, note that it can be accessed in the following way:
- Go to Content
- Create a new module named Virtual Classroom, and choose whether you need this to be visible to your students.
- Click on the Existing Activities button, and then select the External Learning Tools option
- Click on Virtual Classroom to add a link to the tool in your content module
