DLE Weekly Update: Zoom Update and Brightspace Tips
Posted on November 6th, 2020
Zoom Update
You should be aware that Zoom recordings of sessions that are scheduled through Brightspace via Tools > Zoom Classroom, and saved to the cloud, will no longer be automatically shared with the students in the Brightspace course. Previously, a link to the recording would appear immediately for students via Tools > Zoom Classroom, under Cloud Recordings.
Please note that this will apply to any recordings already created, as well as future recordings. As a result of the setting change, you may need to (re)publish your existing recordings.
For faculty who were waiting for an email from Zoom with the link to the recording, and were sharing this link and password with students, this workflow can continue unaffected.

Brightspace Tips
Course Content Statistics
Have you ever wonder how many learners have visited a particular module or topic in your Brightspace courses? You have all this great info available to you from the Content menu, on the course navigation bar. By going to the Table of Contents, and then choosing View Reports option from the Related Tools menu, you can view how many users have visited a particular module or topic, and also the average time spent on a that topic or module. To view statistics for a particular student, go the Users tab and click on the the student’s name.
Rubrics
When grading a submission using a Brightspace Rubric, make sure you select the box for the level the student achieved for each criterion. As scores are selected for each criteria, the rubric will automatically update the overall score. Doing this will ensure that the feedback will be visible to students.
